Wow… Let’s hope we don’t have too many more days like Week 5
Mother nature and the course were not very friendly. Pars and birdies were at a season low. Number nines pin placement was especially brutal.
On number nine.
14 of 22 members playing today recorded the maximum score of eight.
Six recorded a seven.
Two snuck in with a six.
Mr. Case played hookie on Tuesday and the pin placement for his make up round must have improved as he scored a par on number 9 on Wednesday.
In the PGA flight, six pars recorded were scattered and each of them counted for a skin. With three players grabbing two each; George Henshaw on holes 1 and 7; Joe Del Prince on holes 3 and 5; Todd Hall on holes on 2 and 6. The top of the leader board is still up for grabs with Dave Case leading by just two points and everyone else is within striking distance.
In the Champions flight, Carl Grueninger and Ron Miller both parred number 6, canceling each other out and leaving the lone skin to Doug Sawan for his par on number 3. The leaderboard saw a lot of movement. Carl Grueninger and Rick Davis floated to the top in a tie. Ron Miller is coming on strong beating his average for the third week in a row. Eugene Smith and Jimmy Thompson are sticking close by in a tie for 4th. With only nine points separating first and last place, everyone has a shot at first place with a couple of good rounds down the stretch. Dave “Busta” Snider slipped a little bit and finds himself in 7th place. With only nine points separating the entire flight, it will only take a few good holes to get right back in the mix.
In the LPGA flight, Megan Kenney carded a par on number 8 and kept herself atop the leaderboard. But Barb Cassidy and Erin Kenney are hot on her trail just one point back. Megan’s par on 8 and the low score on number six were good for two skins. Barb Cassidy had the low score on numbers 1 and 3 for two skins as well.
The weatherman is calling for much better weather as we tackle the back nine this week. So be safe, slap a little sun screen on and have some fun.
